Sunday Youth Church
- When: During our 10:30am Service
- Ages: Kindergarten – Year 9
At the 10:30am service, we all start in the church building together before youth (Kindergarten to Year 9) are invited out with their leaders.
Youth Church runs until the end of the service in the hall and on the grass area, adjacent to the church building. Kids and youth are brought back to parents at the morning tea area.
Youth are also welcome to stay in the main church for the whole service.
We don’t currently have a dedicated crèche program for babies and toddlers, but they can enjoy the colouring in and toys in the kids’ area at the back of church.

Our Friday Night Youth Group is a community of all types of people who have fun together and discuss what the Bible says. It’s a group for high schoolers from the surrounding suburbs.
Our large group is run by university students and young adults who are keen to talk about their lives and faith. Each Friday night, we explore what Christians believe and seek to establish long-lasting, deep relationships through our various activities.
FAQs
Our ministries are run by a volunteer team of leaders (including teenagers and adults) who attend St James. The programs are overseen by members of the church staff. All our leaders have a valid Working With Children Check and current Safe Ministry Training.
Yes, we welcome children of all faith/non-faith backgrounds. Although most of our programs involve Bible teaching, we don’t assume any background knowledge and we will never pressure a child to express a belief that is not their own.
No, you’re welcome to turn up at any time! We’ll ask you to register your child’s details via our online form the first time you attend. If you would like to do this in advance you can access the form by clicking here.
We use registration information to keep track of attendance. We will only contact you directly in the case of an incident during the program or if your child has lost property. We also send occasional emails to keep you informed of term dates and special events.
You can include any relevant details on the registration form and we will do our best to accommodate your child’s needs. If you have particular concerns, please don’t hesitate to raise them directly with one of our leaders.
Please speak to our team of volunteer leaders (wearing coloured lanyards) at any time. You can also contact our Children’s Minister Lydia Wallace or our Youth Minister Sam Austin.
Safety is priority one!
God loves all people, which means He wants what’s best for them. And we do too! So as a community we strive to make church a safe place.
St Luke’s and St James are committed to the highest standards of care and safety in our programmes for children and youth. All adult staff and volunteers in these programmes have a Working With Children Check as required by law. Additionally, they must also complete ‘Safe Ministry Training’ and have a refresher every 3 years. The church has a Safe Ministry Representative who monitors the currency and record-keeping for these accreditations.
